The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) conducted several raids during the week and seized a huge quantity of hashish, liquor and other contraband items.
Acting on information from intelligence sources about the smuggling of narcotics and contraband items, PCG officials spotted a suspicious passenger coach at the Naka Khari check post on the RCD Highway near Windar, Balochistan. During the search, they seized 154 kilograms of fine quality hashish and contraband items, including cloth, Indian gutka, Iranian carpets, rod bushes, tyres, window air conditioners, wheel rims, engine heads and vehicle engines. They also arrested two drug traffickers.
A special mobile patrol seized 704 bottles of international brand liquor near Bisol River, Ormara. During another raid at the Naka Khari check post, the officials recovered 2,200 litres Iranian diesel and 2,000 litres engine oil from different vehicles.
Moreover, PCG officials seized 31,977 kilograms of betel nuts and 562 cartons of Iranian crockery, 311 kilograms cloth and 94 packets of Indian gutka during raids at Naka Khari, Super Highway, and Thatta Bridge.
Two suspects were arrested. During spot checking on Shah Jahan check post, 103-stick packets of cigarettes were confiscated.
The value of the hashish, liquor and other contraband items in the international market is estimated to be Rs383 million.
